Aroniaberries ready for harvest
Ripe Aroniaberries (chokeberries) ready for harvest.

We love harvest time here at Superberries. Starting in late August and continuing through September, we look forward to a season full of freshly picked flowers, ripe produce from the farmers’ market and foliage that shifts from one beautiful color to the next.

We especially love the harvest season because it’s around this time that the first aroniaberry crops of the year are harvested. It’s exciting to see the hard work of growing them pay off. This year, we expect a rich harvest of delicious, deep purple berries packed with free radical-fighting antioxidants.

Aroniaberries, also known as chokeberries, typically grow in the Midwest and can be harvested either by hand or machine. They can be used in all manner of foods, from baked foods to jellies to candy. In addition to having a tart, semi-sweet flavor similar to that of a wine grape or cherry, aroniaberries are known for their antioxidants.

Several studies have shown that diets rich in antioxidants can help us in our quest for good health. Furthermore, as you know, eating right and regular exercise can slow the aging process and age-related disorders. Aroniaberries are a great berry to include in your overall diet as they have one of the highest naturally-occurring antioxidant levels when compared to other berries that are often thought of as a superfruit.

Aroniaberry harvest time is exciting for us because it’s the time of year when we get a brand new crop of beautiful berries to work with. We are passionate about selecting only the finest berries from each harvest to bring you the most delicious, antioxidant-packed products so you will want to include aroniaberries in your health and wellness plan.

You don’t have to scramble to stock up on aroniaberries just because it’s harvest time: we make them available year-round. Fresh frozen berries, gummy chews, concentrate and wellness shots are available online or at local retailers every day of the year. Plus, with so many easy aroniaberry recipes out there, you can enjoy this superfood whenever you want, whether in a refreshing smoothie or a tart sauce for a pancake breakfasts.

While you don’t have to rush to get your aroniaberry supply, we are fast approaching a busy time of the year; the Holidays! Be sure to stock up now and be prepared for the holidays by “Eating Purple”.
