Aroniaberry Hand Pie

Serves: Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups Freshly Frozen Aroniaberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/3 cup of honey
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 boxes refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box
Powdered sugar for dusting, if desired

Cream Cheese Filling:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Preheat Oven to 350°F. In a saucepan, stir aroniaberries, granulated sugar (honey) and cornstarch over medium heat.Heat to boiling. Cook 15 minutes, stirring constantly until very thick. Unroll pie crusts onto floured work surface. Cut 4-8 rounds from each crust (approximately 3½-inch rounds). Spoon 2 to 3 tsps of strawberry mixture on half of each crust. Fold top half of crust over filling and press edges with fork to seal. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar. For cream cheese option, spoon 1 to 2 tsps. of cream cheese onto crust.
