We love the simplicity of this cobbler recipe. Although pies date back to the Roman Empire,
the fruit cobbler was invented by the American colonists as a dessert utilizing
available resources. This recipe is made with ingredients that are pantry
staples and our super good for you Aronia berries. Superberries Frozen Aronia berries come in a 2-pound bag and are great to keep on hand for smoothies,
cereal, and yogurt mix-ins or baking recipes. This Aroniaberry Cobbler will soon become your
go-to dessert.
Ingredients
2 cups of Aronia berries
3 tablespoons of Honey
1 cup Butter (room temp)
2/3 cup Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a 9x9 square baking pan with
parchment paper. Leave the ends long to
make it easy to lift the bars out of the pan for easy cutting. Cream the butter
and sugar together. Add salt and vanilla. Slowly add the flour. The dough will
be crumbly. Take 2/3 of the dough and press it into the bottom of your pan.
Place the Aroniaberries evenly over the dough. Drizzle with honey. Top the berries
with the remaining dough, crumbling it over the top. Some of the berries will
show through. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is turning golden. Let cool.
Lift the cobbler bars out of the pan for slicing. Serve with ice cream or
whipped cream.
